Personaly I can say e63 is better than e71

The E63 is the cheaper "little brother" of the E71, which WOM World sent me over the summer. I was so impressed with the E71 that I bought it. While the E63 is not a phone I'd buy (it does not have an internal GPS or HSDPA), it is a great entry level messaging centric phone. The E63 is made out of plastic but it doesn't feel cheap at all. In fact , it feels really good when you hold it. In addition, as good as the keyboard is on the E71, the E63's is better. There are 2 additional keys on the bottom row of the QWERTY keyboard. While this necessitated a small space bar, it allows the CTRL and CHR keys to each have their own key. This is a very good improvement over the E71, as both of these keys are heavily used. The small space bar has not proved to be a problem at all and includes the interesting feature of a flash light (torch for out friends across the pond) feature that allows you to turn on the camera LEDs by pressing the space bar from the active standby screen.
Aside from the lack of a GPS, HSDPA, a 2MP camera, and being a few mm thicker, the E63 has the same features and functions as the E71. There is a MODES native application that allows you to have a business or personal centric active standby screen, there is a native encryption application and SIP stack for Internet Telephony. Finally, the E63 has a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a feature which I suspect the target demographic will greatly appreciate. I suspect that the CPU in the E63 is the same as the CPU in the E71 because the E63 seems to be just as fast and if you've seem my E71 review you'll know that that's very fast.
I just bought a mobile phone for my business partner's daughter (a college student). She wanted an AT&T Tilt, a WiMo 6.1 device. While it went a little against the grain to buy a WiMo device, the $200 price (w/ contract) was the right price for her. I had considered talking her into an E71 (she wanted a phone with a QWERTY keyboard for messaging), but at over $400, it was outside her price range. I expect the price of the E63 to settle out in the $250 to $300 range (after an initial release at a higher price) and at that price it would have been the perfect phone for her, and I suspect many of her peers as well.
Nokia has another winner here and I'm glad to see an entry level device in the E series family. If I were in college or just starting out in the real world, this is exactly the phone I'd want. I suspect that we'll see a lot of interest in the E63 from exactly this demographic, which I suspect is the reason that Nokia developed this phone. By getting young people interested in Nokia, many will become life long customers. A very smart move on Nokia's part.

Blackberry storm another "iphone killer"?

While the Storm's defining feature is this, what RIM ungracefully calls ClickThrough, the phone is much, much more. The term "iPhone killer" is clumsily tossed around by bloggers and journos (including us) to describe almost any phone with a touchscreen, but by trying to actually innovate rather than imitate, RIM has conjured up the phone most deserving of the title yet. It's got an innovative multi-touch UI (thanks to ClickThrough), runs on Verizon's EV-DO 3G network in the US, as well as any GSM HSPA 3G networks when abroad, so it's a true global smartphone.

The screen is gorgeous. I haven't seen the HTC Touch HD in person, but barring that, the 480x360 184-pixel-per-inch stunner could be the best screen on the market. It's bright, contrasty, the colors are beautiful and the viewing angle is ridiculous. I think I could watch the whole of Iron Man on it. Media navigation isn't as intuitive as the iPhone, basically re-using the usual BlackBerry UI, but it's not difficult to get around by any means. Still, RIM clearly intends to take the fight seriously, since the Storm supports a bunch of audio and video formats, will come with an 8GB microSD card and supports stereo Bluetooth. It'll also have Verizon's V CAST, naturally.

HTC 4G ready for the world?

Let us feast our eyes yet again on the HTC MAX 4G and live in envy towards those who walk the earth with such a monstrous device, or we could just go live in Russia instead.
Last month something spectacular happened in the mobile industry that will find its way into the history books. What was that? HTC announced the first GSM/WiMAX phone which is called the HTC MAX 4G, the whole internet went into a bliss even though the phone was announced only for the Russian market.
Days after the announcement the first review surfaced, some Russian dude made a video, reviewed it for the masses to see but not understand what the heck he was saying, nonetheless it was still sweet to see the phone in action and streaming multiple videos over WiMAX. Today I bring you a review of the HTC MAX 4G in English, that’s right folks, a Malaysian English speaking Blogger got his musky hands on this bad boy and wrote a thorough review with pics.
If you want to get a unit out of Russia to your English speaking home town then I warn you that isn’t a good idea, the language is only in Russian and cannot be changed to nothing else. If you’re a total geek and don’t give a heck if it was even alien language then by all means go ahead and be happy.

Sony Ericsson C903 looks great but is that all?

The rumored Sony Ericsson Frances has now received a proper name - it will be called Sony Ericsson C903. Much like a slider version of the 5 megapixel Cyber-Shot Filippa, but with GPS receiver.
The competition for leaked upcoming and unannounced phones continues. In this new edition we present you the Sony Ericsson C903, also known under the codename Frances.
The new Cyber-Shot will join the family with 5 megapixel camera, 2.4-inch QVGA screen, GPS and slide design solution. It should be an upgraded version of the SE C901 (Filippa), but there is no info about xenon flash presence. The usual suspect aplications are here: PhotoFix, Face Detection and Smile Shutter.

Prada II is priced at €600 in the eurozone, the same as the first phone when it hit the shelves – it's not really the fault of the company that the weak pound means it's a lot more expensive in the UK this year, at about £500. Since the phone is SIM-free, the price also depends on the provider you get the phone with.

The first time you look at the LG Prada II, the second version of the mobile phone collaboration between the Italian fashion label and the Korean phone manufacturer, you can't help feeling a sense of disappointment. It looks almost identical to the first-generation Prada launched last year, except that it's about 5mm thicker and about 50% heavier at 130g.

The 5-megapixel camera is ahead of the competition in the same space, with a Schneider-Kreuznach certified lens, and the phone incorporates slow-motion video recording and plays videos in the DivX format. It also plays the standard music formats and has an 8GB external memory slot.
It's a really good product, but the problem is you'll have to pointedly slide out the QWERTY keyboard to differentiate it from the earlier phone. Size and weight are a problem as well, but the main issue is that it could alienate the wag market that made the first product so successful.
Will businesspeople be impressed enough to choose it over the Blackberry Storm, and be prepared to shell out £500? Only time will tell if Prada II will be seen as a brilliant all-in-one product, or a phone with a bit of an identity crisis.

Nokia 5800 gets 8/10 ..preatty good

It's touchscreen o'clock for Nokia and the stage is set for the 5800 XpressMusic. Go ahead and touch it. Now, it's technically not the first time Nokia get their hands dirty with touch screens, but it sure feels they really mean business this time. For Nokia 5800 is not the only story here. The smart platform with the most influential touch receives its first trial by touch. Being the first device running Series 60 5th alone is enough for the 5800 to be remembered by.
A legion of touchscreen phones have been busy delivering more and better, and owning that market. They sure won't be giving Nokia and S60 5th the warmest of welcomes.

More upcoming Windows Mobile 6.5 devices

Windows Mobile 6.5 has leaked and it's already been installed on an HTC device. However the users expectations for some major changes are now cooled off by this beta version.
Quite expectedly, any new Windows OS leaks weeks or months prior to its official presentation. Well Windows Mobile 6.5 doesn't make any difference.
You can see the upcoming upgrade installed on the HTC Blue Angel. Yes, that's right - that old and huge PocketPC from 2004. You've probably heard of it as O2 XDA IIs, T-Mobile MDA III, i-Mate PDA2K or Qtek 9090.
There's not much known about the improvements, but at least the visuals of the OS are concerned, there don't seem to be that many of them.

Picture on Google Android G2

Today two real pictures of the Android-powered G2 leaked online. It seems that the upcoming handset will be thinner and with no physical keyboard. It's not quite sure if it will be branded by T-Mobile, but the HTC involvement is without a doubt.

The Android G2 is a lot thinner thanks to the removed physical keyboard. The design reminds more of Touch 3G and Touch Viva than its predecessor - T-Mobile G1.
The rumors point May 2009 as the launch time but if you are into QWERTY, you have a go at the G1, which should be available in many European countries by the end of the month.

Google Android expands in Europe

The first Android-based phone T-Mobile G1 is just about to be released in several European countries, according to an official by Deutsche Telekom spokesman. Initially released in October, the G1 was only available in the US and UK so far.
According to the T-Mobile CEO, Hamid Akhavan, the G1 will hit the shelves by 30 January in the Netherlands, Czech Republic and Austria. Germany and Poland will follow a bit later on (2 February).
Combined with a two-year T-Mobile contract the G1 will only cost 1 euro in Germany. There is yet no information about the pricing of the handset in the other European countries of the second wave.
We remind you that the T-Mobile G1 costs 179 US dollars with a two-year contract in the United States.
In the same time, T-Mobile UK offers the G1 for free when you enter into a year-and-a-half contract for a 40GBP monthly plan.

Awaiting the new Nokia spear-head

Nokia N97 will be unleashed on the 31 March in UK .
Tri-band HSDPA and quad-band GSM ensure world wide roaming, but the new Nokia N97 also boasts 32GB of internal memory, a 5 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, GPS, touch-enabled Nokia Maps with a digital compass, an accelerometer for auto screen rotation and a proximity sensor for auto screen turn-off during calls.

The price tag of 480 GBP (540 euro or 720 US dollars) for the dream-come-true phone sounds quite nice and is actually a tad lower than the officially announced suggested price of 550 euro before taxes or subsidies. We've never seen a Nokia phone introductory price go lower than the initial expectations, so it's either the world financial meltdown talking here or the seller is just pulling our leg.

HTC HD gets a clear as its screen 9/10

The HTC Touch HD may be the biggest, meanest thing that has happened to Windows Mobile for quite some time now. It's got an unforgiving spec sheet that can easily put to shame most high-end devices out there. A massive 3.8-inch touchscreen with a WVGA resolution is combined with a sleek form factor of only 12mm thickness. Add a 5 megapixel camera, GPS, and Wi-Fi and a powerful CPU and you've got yourself a spanking WinMo killer machine.

Comparison of the HTC Touch HD with the iPhone is unavoidable. Although the Touch HD outruns the iPhone 3G specs by far, the Apple iPhone is still the most hyped full touch device.
Although Windows Mobile 6.1 is pretty much lagging behind in terms of usability (when compared to all other recent all touch phones), HTC have taken care to improve things a bit with their TouchFLO 3D (well known from the Touch Diamond).
We are far from considering that Windows Mobile (TouchFLO or not) will ever be capable to match the fluid iPhone interface, but still a physical comparison is interesting. In fact the most intriguing thing about the HTC Touch HD is the relatively compact size for feature-packed load that's on board. The HTC Touch HD is no bigger then the Apple iPhone 3G.

Among the HTC very own - the Touch diamond will probably seem more appealing to those who find the HD too big for a nice ride. The Diamond lacks the 5MP shooter but it ain't much of a loss from our point of view. And if QWERTY is higher on your list than screen estate - the HTC Touch Pro is a must consider.

First ever phone with 8 mgp camera gets 9.5/10

The Sony Ericsson C905 Cyber-shot has managed to create a real stir in the mobile community. It's the first GSM handset that ships with the whopping 8 megapixels worth of camera goodies and such things simply cannot go unnoticed.
You've probably already gone through the news scoop and you know the sweet details - face detection, smart contrast, both a xenon flash and a photo flash, as well as geotagging complete the camera feature set. A 2.4-inch QVGA TFT display with scratch-resistant mineral glass cover will serve you as a viewfinder.

The Sony Ericsson C905 Cyber-shot also comes with a built-in accelerometer for screen auto rotation, TV-out port, GPS and, wait for it … Wi-Fi support. Yes, that's true wireless networking on a regular feature phone.
And did we also mention the quad-band GSM/EDGE connectivity, the UMTS and HSDPA support, stereo Bluetooth (that's A2DP for the nerd group), USB and FM radio with RDS? Well, it is a nice feature combo by all standards. And it so happens, that we managed to sneak it for a quick hands-on.
Truth be told, the Sony Ericsson C905 Cyber-shot has obviously never heard of diets and healthy food. With a thickness of 18mm (up to 19.5 in its thickest part), it's a seriously fat fella - at least by feature phone standards. There are other really popular smartphones that take the thickness problem even further, but the C905 Cyber-shot is not a smartphone.

A stagering 9.5 out of 10 for Samsungs spear-head

Now that the dust of the Diamond vs. Omnia PocketPC battle settles down, our up close and personal look at the rivals continues with Samsung i900 Omnia. Slick looks, great feature-pack and ingenious software solutions are things that hold true for the i900 Omnia in the same extent as for the Diamond.
And since the Samsung i900 Omnia boasts loads of character and personality it's no wonder it holds the crowd hooked ever since it was announced. The first five megapixel Windows Mobile cameraphone has inspired quite a following and now that it's already market available in Europe we are more than happy to welcome the Omnia back after a well deserved breather.
From my perspective and from what I want out of a full touch-screan phone, Omnia is overall better than the touch Diamond.

Nokia N81 8Gb gets an 9/10

The Nokia N81 8GB is a truly exciting smartphone combining the power of Symbian 9.2 OS spiced up with the new N-Gage platform. What we have in N81 8GB is entertainment and multimedia unleashed. Not only does its specs sheet impress, but it promises tons of fun. As you all know, there are two versions of the handset - standard and 8GB. The standard version features a memory card slot, the other has none but offers the exciting 8GB of onboard memory. We are looking at the Nokia N81 8GB but all of it holds true for the standard Nokia N81 as well. Therefore, from now on we are going to simply call it Nokia N81. I like to compare the gadget with the N96, but that's just me.
Overall, if you want it go and buy it.

The most expensive Nokia gets 7 points

First of all price and performance is completely disproportionate, I can not give the handset more than 7 out of 10.

Stainless steel and OLED screen: there's no way a handset with that kind of features will ever blend in with the crowd of handsets. Add the hefty price tag and you got the high-end biting the dust too, just like that. But then, there's always someone like us to ruin the pleasure. Poking and prying, finding out if it's worth your dime.

Nokia 8800 Arte will face the greatest amount of competition inside its own pack, with every other 88xx-series handset a potential rival. Looks will be the weapons of choice, although the Arte duo has an ace up their sleeve in terms of functionality too. Nokia 8800 Arte and 8800 Sapphire Arte are the first 88xx series phones to feature 3G support. Anyway, the whole bunch is so heavy on design and exclusivity that high speed data transfers may as well be of no consequence if you're to make up your mind between the Arte and the Luna.

8.5 out of 10 for Nokia e71

The Nokia E71 is among the best-equipped Nokia smartphones to-date. It's quick and responsive and carries a remarkable feature load for its compact size. Connectivity is at its highest with the Nokia E71 boasting every single connectivity option, which is currently available. Add the GPS receiver and the slim metallic design and you've got yourself a smartphone that walks and talks high-end.
Nokia E71 however is in for some tough BlackBerry competition. The Bold 9000 seems like a nice alternative having almost the same feature pack as the Nokia. BlackBerry's proprietary OS is not as widespread as the Symbian S60 but the business applications are all there, so the target audience won't feel deprived. The Bold also has a screen of much higher-resolution than the E71, but then, size is worth a thought.
Let us not forget the smooth finish of the e71, overall great great phone.

6/10 for the hottest Motorola

Out-of-this-world design, head-turning exterior, non-touch Symbian UIQ, excellent multimedia equipment. We're testing a Motorola kick-slider!
With the RIZR Z8 Motorola is creatively revisiting the realms of Symbian UIQ. Except for Wi-Fi, the handset offers full data connectivity, perfect display and high-capacity memory card support - all packed in a sexy black slider.
A high-end multimedia device, the RIZR Z8 offers a few unique features: it's a UIQ 3.1 and yet a non-touchscreen handset, plus the kick-slide form factor is a true show-off. Almost all is staked on multimedia with this phone, so much so that the improvements offered by the enhanced RIZR Z10 model are limited to the imaging: a 3-megapixel camera and xenon flash.
Overall I'll give this gadget 6/10

The new Sony

7 out of 10 for this

The Sony Ericsson W715 represents the latest and greatest in the realm of Sony Ericsson Walkmans. It looks just like the Sony Ericsson W705, but adds GPS to the equation. This way it gets identical to the Sony Ericsson G705, but being a Vodafone-only device, the two will probably evade direct competition.
The Walkman pedigree ensures that the Sony Ericsson W715 has the latest and greatest in Sony Ericsson spoiling music features such as Shake control and SenseMe, while GPS and Wi-Fi are the icing on of the cake.

Nokia n96 in general ...any opinions?

Nokia N96 is a quad-band handset with dual-band HSDPA support for worldwide coverage. It runs on S60 3rd edition, FP2 and has a 2.8" QVGA (240 x 320 pixels) TFT display with 16M colors. Other features of this true powerhouse include GPS with A-GPS support and geo-tagging for photos, Wi-Fi, the stunning 16GB of onboard memory, plus a microSD slot. If that feature pack doesn't grab your attention, hardly anything will.

Nokia N96 has a 5 megapixel autofocus camera with Carl Zeiss optics and powerful dual LED flash. It also records video in VGA resolution at 30 fps.The connectivity set sports Wi-Fi b/g with UPnP support, microUSB v2.0, DVB-H class C, a 3.5mm stereo headphone plug and Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP stereo audio.

Preatty impressive a? 9 out of 10

Samsung smack down

Samsung M8800 Pixon gets its kick from touchscreen and imaging and hopes to be the definitive cameraphone. The inspired TouchWiz interface and massive screen are the right gateway to getting the 8 megapixel camera and real high-end video unleashed. The Pixon obviously plays second fiddle to the INNOV8 in the Samsung portfolio but dares to challenge it in the imaging department.
7/10 for Samsung M8800 for a review on Omnia toonin.

HTC touch Pro almost the perfect mobile gadget

At the end of this review, we're back where we left off. The Touch Pro and the Diamond just go together. In the face of Touch Pro, the Diamond has lost some of its one-of-a-kind design-driven edge and gained elsewhere (beside the waistline). It's not the most obvious QWERTY add-on only: the TV-out port, better battery and microSD card slot sound just as sweet. It's not as simple as "we liked the Diamond, so we like the Touch Pro even better". It just so seems the Touch Pro comes closer to the definitive PocketPC concept.
Finally my conclusion, I will give this gadget 9.5 out of 10..yep, you heard me right...I'm not gonna give it 10/10 because in anything it's place for better

luni, 5 ianuarie 2009

First,2 phones come in mind with their striking similarities .HTC Touch Diamond is so similar it’s no reason to upgrade from Diamond to Touch Pro only if you are a HTC fanatic. The second ,is logically Xperia, in which we wont get in to much.
To me it’s resembling so much with Touch Diamond ,is rather boring. The HTC Touch Pro is one diamond of a looker. The gem-inspired back panel is here of course but it's less pronounced and the glossy plastic is now replaced by mat rubbery finish. This way the handset is more practical: it provides for a better grip, it'won't bruise along the edges as easily as the Diamond and finally, it doesn't attract fingerprints that much.
In addition, it's quite obvious that in reality the Touch Pro is darker than the Touch Diamond. It's closer to the pitch black color of the HTC promo shots. The somewhat cheap looking bluish grey color of the front in certain light conditions is now far less prominent.
If you don’t have a HTC Touch Diamond , you should buy this phone, personally it’s much better than Xperia and much cheaper.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 spec sheet is almost identical to the one of Touch Pro. In addition they run on the same Windows Mobile Professional 6.1 OS. Now, add the fact that it's HTC that actually manufactures the X1 super phone, and you've got quite a clone war shaping up.
If you aren't dying to have a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, the options are quite clear. The HTC Touch Diamond (the Touch Pro keyboardless and much slimmer twin) and the Samsung i900 Omnia have been around struggling for the upper hand over the past three months.

HTC touch Pro , first glance

Look at it, isn't it shiny?A good comparison phone for the Xperia X1 is of course this marble ,HTC Touch Pro.

Windows Mobile wars are at their fiercest and a truce is nowhere in sight with new recruits marching to battle as we speak. HTC Touch Pro is adding some heavy firepower to the Touch Diamond campaign for domination of the WinMo realm. The new pro by HTC is a true all-rounder, with multimedia and navigation just part of its ammo, and has every premise of becoming the most complete Windows-powered device to date. Armed and dangerous it is, but will it get a license to kill?

sâmbătă, 3 ianuarie 2009

8 out of 10 for Xperia X1

OK folks, panels or whatnot, sooner or later WinMo pushes through - familiar, somber, inevitable. The interface is sadly not scaled up and, on the XPERIA high-resolution screen, things are very tiny, certainly not thumbable.
Sony Ericsson have still put a few personal touches to Windows Mobile. A task manager has been added - courtesy of HTC actually, and the same as in the Touch Pro - but it's only accessible from the home screen.

I think it works better than HTC tytn 2, and somewhat the same like the touch pro.

Over all, I am going to give the gadget 8 out of 10 ,it works fine, graphics are exelent, it's very stylish the qwerty a step forward than the Iphone or Omnia ,but one must not forget how much this technology costs.

vineri, 2 ianuarie 2009

XPERIA X1 software

First glance on how it works , I was "UAAUU" but than I remember that this device cost as much as an Apple laptop so being impressive was a necessity for the X1 to even be reasonable .
There are 7 preloaded panels that you can spin right out of the box and the X Panel hardware button gives you one-click access to viewing and managing the assortment. The left soft key lets you toggle between 3 x 3 grid and card view. The right soft key takes you to the X-Panels setup where you can change alignment within the grid or add newly downloaded panels.
You can view a total of 9 panels only however you can have more than those installed. The X-Panels setup allows you to choose which ones should be visible.
By the way, each panel comes with its own pair of context keys. What's more, the panel grid view is nicely animated and the currently selected panel appears as a larger thumb.

Sony XPERIA X1 first look

There's a lot to fall for in Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1. Possibly the hottest looker of a PocketPC is also heavy on skill. Heavy enough to not just scratch out a living as a one-hit-wonder but aim for the WinMo top.

The XPERIA X1 is one of the best-equipped Windows Mobile devices to ever set foot on the market. But hey, is it not the most elaborate and charismatic PocketPC too? As to skills, the high-res 3" screen and the full QWERTY keyboard seem the most important parts of its magnificent ammo though its processing power is not to be neglected either. The metallic finish also does its bit to give Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 a more sophisticated look and feel compared to the stepbrother HTC Touch Pro.
The most impressive thing about X1 is its high definision graphics but with 1000 dollars you could expect even more than what you see.
BTW: Happy New Year
